Pedestrian, Bicyclist & Golf Cart Incidents/Accidents

Description

The City recognizes that traffic fatalities and serious injuries are preventable and not inevitable, and commits to working collaboratively with Forward Pinellas, the County, other municipalities located in the County, and partner transportation agencies to identify and implement projects and programs that reduce the potential for serious traffic injuries and fatalities in our community. The goals of this effort include addressing safety concerns throughout the County, providing data and information to our partner agencies, and working together to achieve zero deaths on our roadways. Through the creation and adoption of a Multi-modal Transportation Plan, continuous partnership with FDOT and the MPO, and adoption of the Complete Streets Policy (a concept that provides safe, convenient access for all users of all modes of transportation and for all ages), the City will be able to execute its vision for better multimodal transportation facilities on existing roadways and corridors. The Multi-Modal Transportation Plan: ACTION 1.10: Partner with the MPO to achieve Vision Zero - eliminating traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries, by prioritizing the development and implementation of the Complete Streets initiative as defined in the City’s Comprehensive Plan.
